It's almost here...

James Andre (Milk Shadow Books) and I had lunch on Friday, and he handed me a final proof of my new book: NO MAP, BUT NOT LOST.


Ah, the satisfaction of holding your own finished book. There's nothing like it. The book itself feels like one of Charles Bukowski's... Soft, yet solid. I love it.


It's packed full of all my old self-published comics. Many embarrassing ones. Some unfinished. Some you've seen. With sketches and notes after each comic telling you a little about what was going on in my head at the time of the particular comic's creation. I really like the way the book has turned out. It has a slight touch of yellow on the interior paper stock, with a semi-gloss matt cover.

I can't wait to see a stack of these piled up at this weekend's BIG ARSE Comics Launch #2... Catch you all there!

The Sticky Zine Fair 2012 - [12.02.2012]

Despite staying up the previous night until 3.30am, getting my book NO MAP, BUT NOT LOST finished for the printer's deadline, I was able to muster the will-power of actually waking up in the late morning to attend the Sticky Institute Zine Fair at the Melbourne Town Hall.


My new toy, the NEX-5n, arrived in the post the day before, so I clicked on my trusty 50mm Rokkor lens, and took it along to the fair...

My new book

It's my new 200 page book that collects all of my previous self-published work and short stories. Some stories in here people may have seen already, like WITHHELD, but others were exhumed from dusty drawers... never meant for anyone's eyes but mine, until now. From the early embarrassing days where I'm finding my voice, up until today. From amateur scribbling to a more refined line. A chronological record of one ordinary guy getting better on paper, over the years, by following his heart.

NO MAP, BUT NOT LOST will hit the world (through publisher, Milk Shadow Books) at the upcoming BIG ARSE Comics Launch #2 on 3-March-2012. So if you're in Melbourne, come on down, say hello, and I'll sketch and sign in every single copy that people buy (if they want me to). Promise.
